We are excited that you are considering joining us at Temple Adas Shalom!
Our congregation remains a warm and welcoming assembly of approximately 151 families. We have a seasoned spiritual leader in Rabbi John Franken with strong ties to both the local and regional Jewish community. Our membership is very welcoming, friendly, and diverse, running the complete gamut of ages and marital status. We have and welcome traditional and interfaith families, and have an active relationship across the county with other religious organizations such as churches and the mosque, making a statement of peace and tolerance
Temple Adas Shalom has many programs are offered aside from the weekly worship services and life cycle events. Our HJC Early Learning Center has excellent learning opportunities for toddlers through Pre-K. The Kehillah MAGNET Religious School has classes two Fridays a month for Grade 3 through Grade 6 that meet from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm; as well as classes for Pre-K through High School that meet on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Majority of our students who complete confirmation continue as teacher assistants, gaining valuable work experience. Our Adas Shalom Temple Youth (ASTY) teenagers are the most active in the National Federation of Teen Youth – Mid Atlantic Region (NFTY-MAR). Adult Education can provide various activities for our members such as learning Hebrew, watching films, and discussing books. We have an active Sisterhood that plans many functions throughout the year that are open to members as well as non-members who might be interested in checking out what they have to offer. The Social Committee organizes several Shabbat, holiday, and special dinners during the year. Our Social Action Committee is involved in community affairs and sponsors volunteer opportunities throughout the year including feeding the needy, care for people in difficult periods of their life, and support to other community support groups.
Regardless of your membership status, you are welcome to come and worship with us for Friday evening services which generally begins at 7:00 PM (please check our calendar website for an updated and detailed list of events and services) or our once a month a Daven & Dine which starts at 6:00 PM. Service is led by a healthy combination of Rabbi Ruskin, lay leadership and our post B’nai Mitzvah teenagers. An ONEG Shabbat follows the service, unless it is a Daven & Dine.
