The Tree of Life sculpture in our lobby was done by the renowned synagogue artist Sanford Werfel at his studio in Avenel, NJ. The branches of the tree form the Hebrew words “Etz Chaim”. The stones at the roots of the Tree are symbolic of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The golden leaves may be inscribed to highlight or commemorate such joyous events as births, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, Confirmations, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, or to honor parents, family or friends. The stones are to memorialize parents, family members or friends. Share the joy by inscribing your family “simchas” on our synagogue’s Tree of Life…a permanent dedication to the meaningful, happy events that touch our lives. A lovely certificate will be sent to those you are honoring.

It Is A Tree Of Life To Those Who Uphold It.” Proverbs 3-18

To order a Tree of Life leaf, please download the fillable  Tree Of Life Form and return to the Sisterhood with payment.

What do you care most deeply about? How do you want to ensure that your values are perpetuated beyond your lifetime? There are many ways to leave your legacy and to make an indelible mark on our community’s future.

Planned giving is an entirely personal decision which allows you to determine the most meaningful way of leaving your legacy. There are a wide array of creative methods to establish a planned gift and we are here to help you with your decisions.

Such giving methods are called “planned gifts,” because, with thoughtful planning, you create solutions that can benefit you, your family and Temple Adas Shalom.

The Social Action Committee at Temple Adas Shalom is entirely focused on and committed to Tikun Olam, which is the English transliteration of the Hebrew phrase which means “repair the world”. The committee initiates and manages ongoing programs that benefit individuals within the congregation and surrounding communities. This includes food and clothing drives, prepared and served meals to the needy and homeless, health and education programs, and other as needed “ad hoc” initiatives.

We have worked with and supported many organizations including Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna Chapter, SARC of Harford County, Harford Family House, American Red Cross of Baltimore, Welcome One Shelter, Boys and Girls Club of Harford County, Central Christian Church’s Hope in Action Ministry, St. James AME Church, and Masjid Al Falaah’s Harford County Education Society.

We are always recruiting for passionate individuals who are not satisfied and content unless they’re making a difference in the lives of others. If you’re interested, please speak to Ethan Levy.

The Temple Adas Shalom Congregation need volunteers. We are now working to build volunteer teams to help in every aspect of life in the building. By joining any of our teams, you will be helping to provide the resources and support necessary to sustain and strengthen our community. We have a number of committees for our members to join.

One of the privileges of membership is the opportunity to serve on committees. Committees are a great way to meet new people and help your community be at its best. Many of our committees do not require a large time commitment. We want to allow people to get involved in a way which works for each individual. Below is a list of various areas or committees in the synagogue that need a helping hand.
